Moon Sweepers Beginner Guide: Your First Hour

Start with the toothbrush, fill a container, drop it at the depot, and launch it. That loop is the whole first hour of Moon Sweepers. The store page describes it; the achievement list shows almost every new player actually does it.

The loop, in order

The Lunar Surface Department sends you to a dusty Moon with a toothbrush. You sweep lunar dust, pack it, carry it to a depot, and launch a shipment for pay. Pay buys a better brush, more carrying capacity, and eventually a vehicle.

There is no official price for the first depot or the first shipment. I am not going to invent one. Spend the first payout on the brush upgrade the achievement list treats as universal.

  • Clean a patch (achievement: One Small Sweep, 100%).
  • Deposit at the depot (Dust Delivery, 100%).
  • Launch a full container (Return to Sender, 100%).
  • Collect 10 kg (Dust Bunny, 100%).
  • Upgrade a brush (Get A Better Brush, 100%).
  • Finish the first region (That's Going to Take a While, 96.4%).

Player-reported habits that save time

Players say capsules hold 1 kg while the brush grows from 2 kg to 4 kg. One reply on the dust-capacity thread says you do not have to pull capsules out of the brush: walk the brush to the intake and dump it. I have not confirmed the key in-game.

Conveyor height is reported as Ctrl plus scroll wheel. A lower belt can take a capsule without a throw. Buildings must sit fully on a single foundation; spanning two tiles fails. Do not pave a huge pad before you know the footprint.

If you demolish a garage, players report the vehicles, vehicle upgrades, and cargo inside are deleted, and the refund is only partial. Park the vehicle outside and empty the canisters first.

What this game is not

A 16.9-hour review says the first two hours feel good and the automation then shows its limits. Treat the early game as a short co-op toy, not a factory builder. Key binds are not on an official page. WASD, E, F, and Ctrl+scroll appear only in player posts.

Questions

Do I need friends to start?

No. The store page lists single-player as well as 16-player online co-op. Solo is slower, according to players, but it is a supported mode.

What should I buy first?

The achievement curve says the first brush upgrade happens for essentially everyone. Vehicle and base pieces come after the first region, not before.

Is there an official control list?

Not as of October 24, 2026. The store page only confirms full controller support and Steam Input.
