Privacy Policy
This policy describes what moonsweepers.com actually loads today: Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity, and two Adsterra placements, all from the first screen, plus a YouTube player that is only created after you press play. It names each company, the cookies and localStorage keys each one writes, how long they last, the legal basis, and how to turn them off. The contact address is [email protected].
Who runs this site, and what is first-party
moonsweepers.com is an independent field manual for the Steam game Moon Sweepers, written by the site operator. The studio does not run this site and does not receive data from it. There are no accounts, no newsletter, and no contact form; the contact route is email at [email protected].
The web host keeps a short connection log (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) to serve pages and block abuse. That log is the legal basis of legitimate interest in keeping the site online, is not joined to any other data, and is rotated by the host. We do not sell personal data.
This site writes two first-party localStorage keys and no first-party advertising cookie: ms_consent_v1 (your Accept/Reject choice, 180 days) and ms_socialbar_closed (set to 1 when you close the fixed ad bar, kept until you clear site data).
Third parties loaded on every page
Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC), measurement ID G-5YSJVLH6L0, loaded from www.googletagmanager.com. It counts page views and basic engagement. Cookies: _ga (2 years), _ga_5YSJVLH6L0 (2 years), and _gid (24 hours); gtag may also read _gcl_au (90 days) when an ads link is present. Legal basis: consent. The head starts with analytics_storage granted and the three ad signals denied; when no choice is stored, the loader treats the visit as granted and the banner remains visible. Reject sends denied signals. Google's partner sites policy and opt-out are at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation), project z2lrjnfze5, loaded from www.clarity.ms/tag/z2lrjnfze5 and scripts.clarity.ms. It records session replays and heatmaps so the layout can be fixed; form fields and other sensitive content are masked by Clarity's default masking. Cookies: _clck (1 year), _clsk (1 day), CLID (1 year), ANONCHK (10 minutes), MR (7 days), MUID (1 year), and SM (session). Legal basis: consent, granted by default and withdrawn by Reject. Microsoft's statement is at https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
Adsterra (Adsterra Network), publisher ID 3403020, serving two placements on this site: Native Banner unit 31895478 and Social Bar unit 31895479, both requested from bicea.org and the ad hosts those scripts call. Adult advertising is switched off in the Adsterra panel for this website. Adsterra and its demand partners set their own cookies and similar identifiers on their domains (not on moonsweepers.com) to cap frequency, measure clicks, and choose a creative; their names and lifetimes are controlled by those companies and can change per campaign, so they are not listed as fixed first-party keys here. Clearing cookies for bicea.org and its ad domains removes them. Legal basis: consent, granted by default and withdrawn by Reject, which also removes the injected ad scripts and the fixed bar.
The Adsterra Social Bar is a fixed bar at the bottom of the viewport. Its container is capped locally to max-width: 100vw with box-sizing: border-box and overflow: hidden, the page reserves bottom padding while it is shown, and the close button stores ms_socialbar_closed so it does not return on the next page load.

YouTube, Steam, and links that leave the site
The trailer on the home page is a facade: no YouTube iframe exists in the HTML and youtube.com is not contacted until you press Watch trailer. Pressing play creates https://www.youtube.com/embed/dEM3_CJFZWQ in place of the poster and starts Google's player, which may set VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC, and PREF cookies and receives your IP address and user agent under Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. That load is a direct response to your click.
Steam store, Steam Community, and Discord appear as ordinary links. Following them opens the other site under its own privacy policy; no Steam or Discord script is embedded here.
There is no traffic-mesh banner SDK, no AdSense, no popunder, no smartlink, and no other advertising network on this site. If that changes, this page changes in the same release and the date under the title moves with it.
Default loading, Reject, and how to withdraw
Analytics and ads load by default. The head starts Consent Mode with analytics_storage granted, the three ad signals denied, and ads_data_redaction enabled. On a first visit with no stored choice and no Global Privacy Control signal, the loader treats the visit as granted, requests Clarity and Adsterra, and shows the banner without writing a choice yet; the banner is a notice and a way to withdraw, not a gate. Pressing Reject writes a rejected record for 180 days, sends gtag a consent update that denies analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization, and removes the Clarity and Adsterra scripts plus the fixed bar from the page. Pressing Accept after that writes the granted record and turns them back on.
Global Privacy Control (navigator.globalPrivacyControl) is treated as Reject on the first visit: the scripts are not injected and the banner is not shown again. A browser Do Not Track signal is noted but does not by itself block the tags; use Reject or the links below.
You can reopen the banner any time with Cookie settings in the footer, or clear ms_consent_v1 and ms_socialbar_closed in your browser's site-data settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already happened, and does not remove cookies that Google, Microsoft, or Adsterra already set on their own domains — clear those per site in your browser, or use the opt-outs below.
Legal basis, your rights, and advertising opt-outs
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the legal basis for GA4, Clarity, and Adsterra is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), collected through the banner and withdrawable at any time. The host log and answering your email rest on legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) and on steps prior to a contract when you write to us. We do not use these scripts for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects.
You can ask what personal data is held, ask for a copy, a correction, or erasure, and object to processing. Email [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. Because there is no account system, the data we can locate is limited to mail you sent and the aggregate reports Google and Microsoft show us.
Personalized advertising can be turned off at the network level even if you keep the site's default: Google Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com/), the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out (https://optout.networkadvertising.org/), Your Online Choices (https://www.youronlinechoices.com/), and the DAA opt-out (https://optout.aboutads.info/). Adsterra's own privacy page is https://adsterra.com/privacy-policy/. These are third-party tools; this site does not control whether they work in your browser.
Children under 13 are not the audience of this guide, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child sent us mail, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.
Questions
Do you use cookies?
Yes. Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity set first-party cookies on moonsweepers.com (_ga, _ga_5YSJVLH6L0, _gid, _clck, _clsk, CLID, ANONCHK, MR, MUID, SM). Adsterra sets its own cookies on its ad domains. The site itself writes no cookie, only the localStorage keys ms_consent_v1 (180 days) and ms_socialbar_closed.
Do I have to accept before analytics or ads load?
No. They load by default, because the site treats a visitor with no stored choice as granted. The banner tells you and lets you withdraw; Reject turns the scripts off and is remembered for 180 days.
How do I withdraw?
Press Reject in the banner (Cookie settings in the footer reopens it). That rewrites ms_consent_v1 for 180 days, denies the analytics and ad consent signals, and removes the Clarity and Adsterra scripts and the fixed bar. You can also clear site data in your browser.
